Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated:

Caps are one of the most copied products in the world: team logos, brand names and cartoon characters end up on hats every day without permission. Cap Craze does not want to be part of that. This policy explains what belongs to us, what you may and may not do with it, the rules for logos and names you send for personalised caps, and how to tell us if you think something on capcraze.shop uses your rights. Copyright takedown notices follow the formal process on our DMCA page.

The rules in short

  • The Cap Craze name, logo, designs, photos and text belong to Cap Craze or the people who license them to us.
  • Sharing links to our pages is welcome; copying our content or designs is not.
  • We only sell our own designs and caps personalised with material customers are entitled to use.
  • We do not put sports team, league, college, brand, club or character logos on caps unless the customer has permission.
  • Report a concern to support@capcraze.shop; we reply within 24 hours on business days.

1. What belongs to Cap Craze

The following are owned by Cap Craze or used with permission and are protected by intellectual property laws:

  • the Cap Craze name and our logo (the cap whose brim becomes the underline of our name);
  • our ready-made cap designs, including the retro sunset stripes, the one-line mountain and tent, the leaping bass, the EST. badge, the hole-in-one badge, the Mulligan Club spoof crest and the golf outing layout;
  • product descriptions, guides, policy pages and other text on capcraze.shop;
  • product images, banners and the look and arrangement of the site.

2. What you may do

  • View and print our pages for your own, non-commercial use.
  • Share links to our pages and products by message, email or social media.
  • Quote a short extract from a page with a link back to the original.
  • Wear, gift and photograph the caps you buy from us, including posting pictures of yourself wearing them.

3. What you may not do

  • Copy, reproduce or republish our designs, product photos or descriptions on other stores, marketplaces or print-on-demand platforms.
  • Make and sell caps, shirts or other products using our designs without written permission.
  • Use the Cap Craze name or logo, or anything confusingly similar, in a way that suggests we are connected with you or endorse you.
  • Bulk-download or scrape the site with automated tools, other than normal search engine indexing.

4. Logos, names and photos you send us

Many of our caps carry material that customers provide: company logos for crew caps, club names for golf outings, pet photos and family names. When you send that material, you confirm that you own it or have permission to use it on a cap. In practice:

What we can and cannot put on a cap
MaterialCan we use it?
Your own company or crew logoYes. Please send a clean file by replying to your order confirmation email.
Your rec-league team or club logoYes, if you are authorised by the team or club to use it.
A professional, college or school sports team logo or nameNo, unless you hold a licence or written permission from the rights owner.
A brand logo or slogan (for example a beer, car or clothing brand)No, unless you are the brand owner or authorised by them.
Cartoon, film, game or celebrity characters and namesNo.
A real golf course or country club crestOnly with the club’s permission. A course name as plain text on a hole-in-one cap is usually fine.
Your own photo of your pet or familyYes; make sure people in the photo are happy to appear on a cap.
Your own words, nicknames and jokesYes, as long as they are not hateful, threatening or obscene.

If an order includes material we believe we cannot use, we email you before making anything and ask for a replacement. If no suitable replacement arrives, we cancel that part of the order with a full refund. We do not create, redraw or “inspire” versions of protected logos.

5. How we handle customer files

We use your files only to make your order. We do not publish them, add them to a design library or use them in our marketing. Logo files and photos are deleted 30 days after delivery, as described in our Privacy Policy. Sending us a file does not transfer any ownership: your logo stays yours.

6. Our trademarks

“Cap Craze” and our logo identify our store. You may refer to Cap Craze by name to describe our products truthfully, for example in a review on your own blog. You may not use our name or logo as part of your own business name, domain, social media handle or product listing.

7. Respecting other people’s rights

Our ready-made designs are created for Cap Craze. If you believe that a design or image on capcraze.shop uses your trademark, copyright or other rights, we want to hear about it, and we will look at every report in good faith.

8. How to report a concern

Email support@capcraze.shop with the subject line “IP concern” and include:

  1. your name, contact details and your relationship to the rights owner;
  2. the right you believe is affected, for example a trademark registration number or a description of your design;
  3. the URL of each product or page on capcraze.shop that concerns you;
  4. a short explanation of why you believe it infringes, and a statement that the information you provide is accurate.

For copyright, a formal notice with all the elements on our DMCA page lets us act fastest.

9. What happens next

We confirm receipt within 24 hours on business days. We review the report and, where it appears well founded, remove or change the product or image. If we need more information, we tell you exactly what. We let you know the outcome by email. If a report concerns a cap we made for a customer from their own file, we will tell you what we can about the order and stop using that material.

10. Ideas and suggestions

We love hearing ideas for new cap designs. Please know that if you send us an idea, we may already be working on something similar, and sending an idea does not create any obligation for either side. If you have a design you want to protect, do not send it as an idea; ask us about permission instead.

11. Asking for permission

If you would like to use a Cap Craze image, text or design for something specific, such as an article, a school project or a collaboration, email us with what you want to use and how. We reply to every request, and we only grant permission in writing.

12. Related policies

This policy works together with our Terms of Service (section on personalisation and content), the DMCA page and the Privacy Policy. For orders, returns and delivery, please use Contact Us.

13. Spoofs, parodies and our own humour

Some of our designs are playful. The Mulligan Club crest, for example, looks like a country club badge but belongs to no real club: the shield, the crossed clubs and the wording are drawn by us. We keep humour on our own side of the line. We do not make “parody” versions of real team logos, real brand marks or famous characters, because a joke does not make it acceptable to borrow someone else’s mark. If you would like a funny line on your cap, write it in your own words and we will gladly put it on.

14. Names of real people

Most names on our caps belong to the customer, their family or their friends, which is exactly what personalisation is for. We will not put the name, signature or likeness of a celebrity or public figure on a cap in a way that suggests endorsement, and we will not make caps that target or mock a private person. If a name is used in a way that concerns you, contact us and we will look into it.

15. Questions customers ask us

Can I put my favourite NFL, NBA, MLB or college team’s logo on a cap?

No. Those logos are trademarks owned by the teams and leagues, and we do not have a licence to use them. You can still pick team colours and add your own name or number.

Can I use a logo I found online for my softball team?

Only if it is actually your team’s logo and the team is happy for you to use it. A logo downloaded from a stock site may need a licence for use on merchandise; check its terms first.

My company logo was designed by an agency. Can I send it?

Yes, if your company has the right to use it on merchandise, which is normally the case when a business commissions its logo.

Can I write a song lyric or movie quote on a cap?

Short phrases are judged case by case, but long quotations from songs, films or books usually belong to someone else. A line in your own words is always the safest choice.

Can I resell caps with my business logo to my customers?

You can give them away or use them for your staff. If you plan to sell caps carrying your own logo as a product line, please contact us first.

Will you keep my logo to make reorders easier?

No. We delete logo files 30 days after delivery, so please keep your own copy and send it again with a reorder.

16. How we design our own caps

Every ready-made Cap Craze design starts as our own sketch: a simple shape (a bass, a mountain line, a sunset), our own lettering choices and a layout built around the cap’s front panel. Our aim is that no design copies a known logo, mascot or brand style: we avoid real club names, team colour combinations used to imitate a team, and lettering that mimics famous marks. If we ever get it wrong, we want to know, and we will fix it quickly.

17. What happens to caps already ordered

If a design is withdrawn after a valid complaint, we stop selling it straight away. Customers with open orders for that design are contacted by email and offered a different design or a full refund. Caps already delivered are not recalled from customers unless the law requires it.

18. Licences we do not have

To be completely clear: Cap Craze holds no licence from any professional sports league, college, golf tour, brand or entertainment company. Nothing on capcraze.shop is official merchandise of any team, club or brand, and if you ever see wording that suggests otherwise, please tell us so we can correct it.
